Fouse Award Winners Honored by Westerville City Schools Board of Education

The Westerville City Schools Board of Education and Superintendent John Kellogg, at a January 23 meeting, recognized Fouse Award recipients Muheeb Hijazeen (Genoa Middle School), Afnan Salem (Westerville North) and Kendra Asiedu (Westerville South).  The trio was honored originally on January 16 at a community breakfast for having effectively exemplified characteristics demonstrated by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Phyllis Self, Executive Director of Leadership Westerville, and MLK Chairman Pastor Vaughn Bell, presented the students.  Fouse awards are named in honor of William H. Fouse, the first black high school graduate in Westerville, an educator who earned a master’s degree at the University of Cincinnati and received an honorary doctorate from Otterbein College.
