52 Westerville Middle School Students Qualify to Compete in District Science Fair

The Westerville Middle School Science Fair was held on Saturday, February 8 at Walnut Springs Middle School.  The Science Fair featured 6th, 7th and 8th grade students from Walnut Springs, Blendon, Heritage, and Genoa Middle School in the Westerville City School District.  One hundred and twenty participants enthusiastically shared their passion for science with nearly 40 judges.  Fifty-two students received the highest rating and qualified to compete at the District Science Fair to be held at Columbus State Community College on March 14. 

Moving forward from Blendon Middle School is Luke Ottersbach.  Genoa students advancing to the District Science Fair are:  Molly Bloor, Olivia Devine, Nikita Nair, Brianna Smith, Amber Hockstok, Camron Hubble, Ilyada Sen, Jacob Yaussy, Luke Chops, Jack McLean, Eli Melko, Madison Seabury, Matt Shallenberger, Danielle Shuttleworth, Cory Blankenship, Jacob Borcila, Lara Detrick, Ben Middleton, Gray Sobel, Malia White, Matt Boller, Kendal Seabury, Adriane Thompson, Ryan Bussard and Elisabeth Steele.   Qualifying Heritage students are Cheyney Carr, Kasyn Scarantine, Ema Rennie, Henry Robbins, Austin Yanichko, Brian Courts, Jennifer Courts and Jack Lovell.  Walnut Springs qualifiers are:  Lillie Garee, Marin Kalista, Morgan Kalista, Mackenzie Madden, Gracey Neal, Jack Newman, Nya Olmsted, Max Pike, Bryce Gabelman, Ali Khan, Noah Polak, Nolan Todys, Josh Coffey, Miranda Hilt, Kaleigh Rudge, Grace Yingling, Audrey Hollerich and Evan Voneman. 

The following students received special awards:  Elijah Rex (Walnut Springs), Rookie of the Year award; Harry Passerrello (Walnut Springs), Most Creative Display Board; Alyssa Gaskill and Daisy Roberts (Walnut Springs), Most Creative Display Board; and Emma Wilson and Alison Benner (Genoa), Most Creative Title, “Through the Eyes of the Goat.”
