On May 8, 40 highly talented visual artists from each of the four Westerville middle schools attended the fourth annual “Career in the Visual Arts” trip.  Students visited the Columbus Museum of Art and Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD), thanks to funding from the Career Education and Gifted Education Departments.

At the Columbus Museum of Art, the pupils were able to observe, describe, interpret, and evaluate a variety of artworks through the guided tours of the newly expanded museum.  Next, after lunch in the Quad at CCAD, the group toured campus with students and Admissions Department staff.  Many topics were discussed including the admissions process, scholarships, course options, majors/minors, campus life, interns, co-ops and job opportunities.  Students used writing prompts and journaling to carry the learning experiences back to their classrooms upon returning to school.
