The Community Service Project Team from the Westerville Leadership Class of 2013 is taking on a project to honor Hospice nurses and staff.  June is Hospice Awareness Month and donations are being sought to:

  • Purchase a Hospice Awareness Month banner to hang across State Street in Uptown Westerville for one week in June, with the hope of doing so each year;
  • Honor the nurses and staff with an appreciation luncheon and spa baskets at the Westerville Hospice Center; and
  • Manage a Central Ohio Hospice booth at the 4th Friday event in Uptown Westerville in June.

A letter from the group states, “Anyone who has had the painful experience of seeking comfort for a loved one in his/her last days can appreciate the work of a Hospice nurse.  Their compassion and patience do not waiver.  Their comfort to the family is immeasurable.  Join us in recognizing and empowering this profession.”

The team spearheading this effort is comprised of Kelli Fowler, OhioHealth; Victoria Hazlett, Westerville City Schools; Jenny Nickel, All the Children of the World Academy; and Jeff Will, Westerville City Schools.  Kristine King Robbins is Executive Director of Leadership Westerville.  To make a tax deductible donation please visit: http://tiny.cc/hospiceaware or contact Jeff Will at 614/797-5945.
