Westerville City School District Board of Education President Denise Pope tonight announced that the Board is stopping the elementary attendance boundary realignment process.

"It's very clear that our Board has not yet settled on the most appropriate course of action, and as a result, we are bringing this process to a close," Pope said. "I wish to thank all of our administrators who were involved in this process for conducting a remarkable professional effort per directives of the current and previous Board leadership."

Pope also recognized the community's passion for their schools and thanked families for their involvement in the process.

"Our community truly stepped up to become engaged in this decision-making process," Pope said. "Most importantly, they demonstrated how to impact the process while remaining civil in their discourse, and we very much appreciate that."

Superintendent Dr. Dan Good thanked the staff for remaining focused on the district's vision, mission and goals throughout the process.

"Throughout the process our district staff members maintained a laser-like focus on meeting the goals set forth in our Strategic Plan," Good said. "It's this level of commitment and dedication that has allowed our district to improve its academic performance each of the last five years, and I thank them for their continued professionalism during this time."

As a result of Pope's announcement, all elementary attendance boundaries next year will remain the same as they are configured for the current school year.
