The Westerville City School District’s Fiscal Services Office, headed by Treasurer/CFO Bart Griffith and Assistant Treasurer Laura Hendricks, has received the Auditor of State Award with Distinction.  This recognition is presented only to those local governments and school districts meeting the highest standards of a financial audit.  Just over 100 out of 5,700 entities earned this designation.   “Clean and accurate record-keeping are the foundation for good government, and the taxpayers can take pride in your commitment to accountability,” wrote Dave Yost, Auditor of State.

The Auditor of State Award with Distinction is given to those entities that file an annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and timely financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as receive a “clean” audit report.  A “clean” report means that an organization’s financial audit did not contain findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Single Audit findings or any questioned costs.

Griffith credited his staff for their outstanding efforts, saying, “This is their award.”  He added that the clean audit is a reflection of the ethical standards of district budget managers and others in the organization who are responsible for the use of resources.
