The Westerville Education Foundation (WEF) is accepting grant applications through April 3 for the spring 2013 grant cycle.  Proposals for innovative practices must be written by Westerville City Schools’ faculty or staff, and given to their supervisors or principals for endorsement and submission.  Additional information regarding the process may be found on the WEF’s website at  www.westervilleeducationfoundation.com/grants-information.

In addition to traditional grants, the WEF will also be awarding this spring a special Year of the Arts grant.  Westerville has declared 2013 to be The Year of the Arts and what better way to show appreciation for, and importance of the arts, than in the classroom! The WEF supports this unique Westerville initiative and has designed a 2013 Year of the Arts Grant to help fund the innovative classroom ideas that explore dance, music, theatre, media arts, literature, design, or visual arts to enhance the students’ learning of traditional curriculum.  Through the funding of a 2013 Year of the Arts grant, the WEF hopes to inspire the use of art media throughout the district and across the disciplines to help the Westerville staff and teachers promote a sense of wonder and help their students see the world through an artistic lens.  While only one grant will be awarded in the Year of the Arts competition, all other arts grant proposals submitted may still be considered for the traditional funding process taking place concurrently with the 2013 Year of the Arts competition.

The Westerville Education Foundation is an independent, volunteer, non-profit organization, founded in 1993 for the purpose of enhancing the education of Westerville students.  Its primary goal is to promote educational initiatives undertaken by employees in the district.  Tax-deductible contributions received by the Foundation fund grants to teachers to enable them to implement their initiatives in the classroom.  Grants are also available to other district employees to support innovative activities or programming.
