The Westerville City School District Board of Education today announced that it has narrowed its superintendent search to three finalists.
Board members identified the finalists following a process in which the six remaining candidates were interviewed for the second time by Board members and for the first time by members of the district’s executive team. The three finalists include Steve Estepp, John Kellogg and John Stanford.
Mr. Estepp is the executive director of K-12 curriculum and instruction for Hilliard City Schools. He brings professional experience as a classroom teacher in Dublin City Schools; program manager in Newark City Schools; and assistant principal of Hilliard Davidson High School, principal of Weaver Middle School and director of secondary education in Hilliard City Schools. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Education from the Ohio State University, a master’s degree in Education Administration, and completed the Superintendent Licensure Program at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Kellogg is the assistant superintendent of curriculum for South-Western City School District. He brings professional experience as a classroom teacher at Bruton High School in York County School District (Yorktown, Va.); assistant principal at Atlee High School in Hanover County Public Schools (Hanover, Va.); principal of Grove City High School in the South-Western City School District; principal of Bexley High School in the Bexley City School District; and executive director of secondary schools in the South-Western City School District. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology and master’s degree in Secondary Science Curriculum from the College of William and Mary, an educational specialist degree in Educational Leadership from George Washington University, and a doctor of education degree in Educational Leadership from Ohio University.
Dr. Stanford is the deputy superintendent of Columbus City Schools. He brings professional experience as an instructor, assistant professor and adjunct assistant professor for the Ohio State University John Glenn School of Public Affairs; director of the education information center, deputy director of research services and deputy director of legislative services for the Ohio School Boards Association; executive assistant for education policy for former Governor Ted Strickland; and supervisor of legislative services, special assistant to the superintendent and chief operating officer for Columbus City Schools. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work/Political Science/Sociology, as well as a master’s degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University; a juris doctor degree from The Ohio State University; and a doctor of Philosophy from The Ohio State University.
The Board will conclude the interview process on January 31, 2013, as finalists will spend an entire day meeting with several constituency groups and becoming familiar with various aspects of district academics and operations. The day will conclude with an open public forum from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Westerville South High School, 303 S. Otterbein Avenue. The Board of Education encourages district employees and members of the community to attend and participate in the forum.
