The Westerville City Schools Academic Enrichment Center will host a free community workshop entitled “How your Privacy and your Safety is Impacted by Social Networking, Twitter, and Hundreds of New Applications Created for Smart Phones.” This one-hour workshop for community members and parents/guardians of students in the Westerville area will be offered at the Academic Enrichment Center, which is located at 336 South Otterbein Avenue, on Tuesday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m. This workshop will be presented by Don Stanko from the Digital Innocence Recovery Group. We will be speaking about the dangers our youth face every time they use their smart phones and download the latest application to help keep them connected to their friends. As these technologies evolve and improve, the consumer becomes more at risk. Learn how your student’s privacy and safety is compromised every time they download and use these new and risky applications. Discover how students can be tracked, wherever they go, with surprising accuracy. And keep abreast of the latest techniques to help keep your children safe from the dangers that lurk on the Internet.
