Second grade students at Whittier Elementary presented a concert titled A Winter Spectacular on Wednesday, December 12. They were accompanied by the Whittier Singers, a third through fifth grade after-school choir. Part of the show included an audience sing-along, consisting of seasonal standards. The performance celebrated the beauty of winter and the joys of spending time with family.
In preparation for the concert, pupils learned a variety of musical numbers, collaborated to design choreography, and created artwork to decorate the performance space. Musical selections included a rap about turkeys, a song of peace, an upbeat song about Santa, a reimagining of the 12 days of Christmas, a medley from the Polar Express, and a collection of jazzy holiday classics. Music teacher Evan McIntyre directed the singers.
