Students Rewarded for Positive Behavior at Pointview

Students at Pointview Elementary School have been showing their PRIDE in recent weeks.  They have been “caught” by the entire staff being prepared, respectful, independent, determined, and engaged in learning.  On April 2, an assembly was held where the children were able to discuss with teachers and with each other what PRIDE-ful behavior looked like in different areas of the building.  At that same assembly, students learned how they could earn PRIDE awards from any staff member at anytime for demonstrating appropriate behaviors.  They also learned that PRIDE awards could be collected and put towards larger rewards, such as a special lunch or a monthly surprise.

So far, the effect has been overwhelmingly positive.  Students are enthusiastic about earning PRIDE awards and are working hard at doing things well.  According to Principal Jeanne Roth, “Students are excited when they receive a PRIDE award, but many are making a connection to the bigger idea of taking pride in their choices and their actions here at school.  We expect that to positively impact our fantastic learning environment.”
