Every school day, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer.  These youngsters spend from weeks to months at a time in hospitals as they undergo chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and other procedures.  In order to help make their stay a little more pleasant, the Pointview Elementary Leadership Team, along with The Friends of Faith Pruden Foundation, raised money to buy items for activity kits, which contain puzzles, puzzle books, card games, markers, colored pencils, crayons, etc.

On March 17 the Leadership Team sold Tootsie Pops; March 19 it was necklaces; and on March 21 they sponsored a “Pajama Day.”  In addition, throughout the month of March, teachers donated money in order to wear blue jeans.  The Leadership Team then went shopping to purchase the items for the kits, which will be distributed to the oncology unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital by the Friends of Faith Pruden Foundation.

The Leadership Team hosted an assembly on March 21 to display the items purchased for the activity kits.  In total, they raised $850 and were able, with those funds, to purchase 42 activity kits.
