Annie Corbett, the clerk at McVay Elementary has been named the Westerville Educational Support Staff Association’s Staff Member of the Month for May.

WESSA President Sue Kaczor, Superintendent Dr. John Kellogg, McVay Principal Jason Fullen and McVay staff surprised Corbett with the announcement on Thursday. Her nomination featured glowing praise from several staff members, including Mandy Walker:

“Annie is the glue that holds McVay Elementary together. She wears several hats in the building. Her main role is the attendance clerk for McVay. I have had several parents comment on how friendly and compassionate Mrs. Corbett is on the telephone. Several of these parents have also shared that Mrs. Corbett always makes sure the children are feeling alright and if the parents need anything at home. Annie has also been a wonderful help to the guest secretaries that have visited McVay the past few months. She has taken on more responsibilities to make sure everything is running smoothly for the school. One of those responsibilities is filling in for the nurse or health aide when they are absent. She handles each child that visits the clinic with love and kindness. Annie also helps the teachers out with afternoon dismissal. She lets us know when the bus has pulled in for their route. Annie always keeps an extra eye out for any children who may not be following their bus line outside. However the day unfolds at McVay, Annie always handles it with grace and a positive attitude. McVay Elementary is very fortunate to have Annie Corbett as part of our family.”
