A+ Award winners recognized at April 14 board meeting

Twelve Westerville City Schools employees were honored for their contributions to students, dedication to their schools and their commitment to district values as part of the A+ Award recognition at Monday’s school board meeting.

The Spring 2023 winners include:

  • Jenny Freshly, Westerville South High School

  • David Payne, Minerva France Elementary

  • Lauren Sefton, WSHS

  • Natalie Martin, Mark Twain Elementary

  • Jeff LeRose, District

  • Chelsie Lakeman, Mark Twain Elementary

  • Charlie Boss, District

  • Jennifer Kirk, Westerville North High School

  • Lauri Jones, Heritage Middle School

  • Evan McIntyre, McVay Elementary

The Board also honored retiring Westerville Education Association President Rhonda Gilpin and Deputy Superintendent Mark Hershiser with A+ awards for their years of service and dedication to the district.

Following a call for nominations, the A+ Award selection committee determines recipients based upon an evaluation of how each nominee’s actions demonstrate:

  • Support of the district’s Mission Statement, which is, “To prepare students to contribute to the competitive and changing world in which we live;”

  • Willingness to go above and beyond normal expectations in support of students; and

  • Behavior consistent with one or more of the district’s values, including respect, inclusiveness, community, communication, collaboration, innovation, nurturing, trust and accountability.
