WCSD students recognized in Ohio PTA Reflections awards

Nine Westerville City Schools students received top honors in the 2021-22 Ohio PTA Reflections award program, which recognizes student achievement in literature, music, dance, film production, photography, music composition and visual arts. Two students — Jordan Smith, a fifth-grader at Emerson and Athen Oakes, a sixth-grader at Walnut Springs — earned Awards of Excellence honors and will move on to the national competition.

The theme for this year’s competition is “I Will Change The World By…” This year’s state winners from Westerville include:

    • Film Production, Award of Outstanding Achievement

  • Emma Combs, Walnut Springs

    • Dance Choreography, Award of Merit 

  • Mira Shyamalan, Heritage 

    • Literature, Honorable Mention 

  • Jordan Smith, Emerson 

    • Music Composition, Award of Excellence 

  • Anna McCracken, Walnut Springs

    • Music Composition, Award of Outstanding Achievement 

  • Noah Combs, McVay 

    • Photography, Honorable Mention 

  • Sophia Johnson, Mark Twain 

    • Photography, Award of Outstanding Achievement 

  • Athen Oakes, Walnut Springs 

    • Special Artist Film Production, Award of Excellence 

  • Evan Vogel, Alcott 

    • Special Artist Photography, Award of Outstanding Achievement
