McVay Elementary School’s Spooky Read Night, held Monday evening, October 29, was a huge success, drawing hundreds of children and their families to school after hours where they could show off their costumes and participate in a variety of activities.  Food trucks were present for those who were hungry, and students got the opportunity to walk from room to room and hear their teachers read spooky (and not-so-spooky) stories.  Rather than collect candy, families brought in and donated boxes of cereal to line the shelves of the Westerville Area Resource Ministry (W.A.R.M.).  The youngsters also decorated placemats to provide for W.A.R.M. clients to add a festive touch to their holiday meals.  Topping off the evening was a very popular glo-stick costume parade through the “haunted” McVay woods behind the school.  Afterwards, members of McVay’s PTA canvassed the woods and assured attendees that all ghosts were gone.
