Did you know that Metro Parks has a partnership with Annehurst Elementary? This program was started during the 1997-98 school year by a core group of Metro Parks staff and Annehurst educators. The students, with the help of their teachers and the Metro Parks staff, are able to explore and investigate natural phenomena. Having Sharon Woods Metro Park as a neighbor also cuts down on transportation costs!
Typically the K-2 students receive lessons and activities in the school while grades 3-5 travel into the park via the deer gate.
All programs, whether in-class or in the park, are based on the state instructional standards. We use vocabulary words and even incorporate math and history!
