Since the start of the year, the staff and students at Annehurst Elementary have been celebrating the school’s 50th anniversary.

They’ve dedicated each month to a decade where students learned about facts, events and people from each era. The school hosted Throwback Thursdays where students and staff dressed up in the fashion popular at the time. Students were invited to create lists of 50 such as 50 animals they knew and 50 places in which they could travel.

They capped their efforts with a school-wide 50th birthday party. Staff decorated the entire building. Music played in the cafeteria. Students played party games during recess and had cake in their classroom. The PTA donated commemorative shirts to students and staff. (They can be ordered here.)

This year’s festivities are the first of the school’s celebrations. The official party has been delayed to fall 2022 with a grand opening to celebrate the completion of the school’s renovation and expansion project.
