Westerville City Schools has announced changes in its building level leadership team.  Beginning with the next school year, Vicki Jarrell will transition from being part-time Emerson principal/part-time gifted coordinator to serving as the district’s full-time Coordinator of Gifted & Talented Services.  She will relocate from Emerson Elementary to administrative offices on the second floor the Early Learning Center.

Current Hanby Principal Jan Fedorenko will be assigned to both Hanby and Emerson elementaries next school year to work with the teaching staff on curriculum and professional development for the three magnet programs.  She will no longer serve as principal, but her office will remain at the magnet schools and she will complete this assignment through her intended retirement next school year.  She will also have responsibility for the district’s Fine Arts Curriculum.

These transitions provide several benefits: ongoing administrative support at both Hanby and Emerson elementary schools, adequate time for a new Magnet Program principal to transition into his or her position, additional support to Magnet Program teachers as the curriculum is strengthened, and a long-range professional development program for those who will deliver Magnet Program instruction.

The Magnet School Principal job will be posted today by the District’s Human Resources Department to ensure the position is filled prior to the start of next school year.  This person will take on the day-to-day operations of both schools, with support from Dr. Fedorenko as she works with Magnet Program teachers.
