Because Fouse Elementary is piloting an electronic fee payment method this year, it didn’t have a traditional Back to School Day like other buildings.  Instead, administrators and the Fouse PTO hosted the first annual Fouse Family Picnic on Sunday evening, August 17.  The event took place in front of the school in the grassy commons area where families brought blankets, chairs, picnic baskets and games to play after eating.  Members of the Genoa Township Fire Department attended and let the children look at the fire truck.   Firefighters also took advantage of the hot weather and allowed the students to work the nozzle of the fire hose and then run through the cool stream of water.

The intent of the activity was to allow students and families to see that with a new school year comes new possibilities.  Robert Stranges is the new principal at Fouse and he looks forward to working together with the school community to create traditions resulting in an outstanding educational environment.  The PTO is already brainstorming how to make next year’s event even better.
