The Fouse Elementary School PTO and faculty have been working with Otterbein University Junior Early Education students, under the direction of Leslie Thompson, to create and implement Project Recess.  The goal is to provide options, choices, enrichment and enthusiasm for activities that can be pursued during indoor or outdoor recess.  The Otterbein pupils have been working this semester to design and build activities for children in grades 1-5.  The idea came to fruition after inclement weather forced youngsters to stay indoors throughout much of the winter months.  It was decided that all venues of recess could use some structure, focus, and direction.  The Otterbein group hopes this will be the start of many more choices for recess at Fouse, and that other schools might opt to replicate the activities.
