Where would you go if you could go anywhere on vacation?  What would you do when you got there?  Where would you stay?  How much would it cost?  These are some of the questions students in Janelle Genth’s third grade class at Fouse Elementary School were asked to ponder, thanks to a math-integrated enrichment project led by retired teacher Connie Himes.  Six students (Emma Barker, Lauren Metsker, Brooke Middleton, Constance Vanwoerkorn, Evan Jeunelot and Ryan Greenhalge) dressed in costumes and presented their findings to classmates on March 20, just before Spring Break.  They worked independently to research how much it would cost to take a vacation to a destination of their choice, considering transportation, lodging, meals, special clothing, and the price of emergencies.  Posters and Elmo pictures were created as visuals to explain their ideas.  Much information was shared and the children had great fun discovering facts about places they would like to visit.
