Deb Ubry, a first grade teacher at Fouse Elementary, was named the January 2014 Teacher of the Month.  She was honored at her school on Tuesday, January 21, with a plaque and a pizza party for her classroom.  The new program is sponsored by Sunny 95, Telhio Credit Union and CiCi’s Pizza.

Principal Brian Orrenmaa nominated Ubry for this award, saying she is dedicated to her students, her school and the Westerville community.  Orrenmaa said she is driven to go above and beyond for her students each day, always searching for new ideas and approaches to help meet the needs of each child.  She looks beyond academics and also focuses on the emotional, mental and physical health of her children.  She is also a cheerleader for the staff and works hard to foster a professional community that is positive and supportive.  She forms relationships with school families and supports them when needs arise.  Finally, he said, Ubry is a champion for the Westerville area and the public school system.  “She is very involved and constantly looking for ways to make her community even better,” he concluded.
