Dr. John Kellogg, Superintendent of Westerville City Schools, addressed Elementary Leadership Summit participants during the summit held on Friday, November 1.

275 student representatives in grades 3-5 attended the eighth annual Westerville City Schools Fall 2013 Elementary Leadership Summit on Friday, November 1, for the purpose of enhancing their leadership skills.  Pupils were selected to attend by members of the Otterbein College Student Education Association, who critiqued their essays.

Special appearances at the Leadership Summit were made by Dr. John Kellogg, Superintendent of Westerville City Schools; musician Arnett Howard; and magician/motivational speaker Jon Petz.  Speakers and numerous activities facilitated by volunteers from the community, Westerville Sunrise Rotary, and Westerville middle school students, focused on communication, teamwork, and listening.  Due to the generous support of the Westerville Sunrise Rotary Foundation, Heartland Bank, Immediate Health Urgent Care Centers, and HR Imaging Photography, there was no expense for students to attend. Students also brought canned goods to the event, and as a result, nearly 300 pounds of food was donated to WARM.
