Dear Westerville City School District Families:

At approximately 5:30 a.m. today, Genoa Township Police were investigating the assault of one of their officers at Red Bank Harbor, which is near the intersection of Maxtown and Sunbury roads. Shortly after the incident occurred, representatives from the police department informed Westerville City School District officials that, given the time of the incident, they did not believe the school day would be impacted.

Our school district is fortunate to have a tremendous partnership with the law enforcement agencies that serve and protect our schools. Long before today’s situation, school district and law enforcement officials had worked together to increase the visibility and patrol of police officers in the areas around our schools. If anything, today’s patrol was the continuation of an arrangement that has been in place the majority of the school year.

We thank the police and other first responders for helping us maintain a safe learning environment for our staff, students and families. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 614-797-5700.

Sincerely,

Debbie Meissner, Director
Health and Safety Services
