Parents of children who reside within the Westerville School district or the Westerville City limits may register their children for Safety City on Tuesday evening, April 30.  Eligibility for this registration depends on the district in which the child resides – not where the child will attend Kindergarten.  Registration night will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on April 30 at the Westerville Fire Station 111, which is located at 400 W. Main St.

Westerville Safety City is an annual event designed to educate students who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall.  Educational topics include fire safety, bicycle safety, stranger awareness, water safety, and other personal safety issues.  Teachers and their teen helpers will educate 360 pupils during this two week program.  The Westerville Fire Division’s educators and Westerville Dare Officers will also be present to help educate and facilitate throughout the weeks.

The program will be held Monday through Friday, June 3-14 at Robert Frost Elementary School.  There are two sessions each day – a morning session from 9:30-11:30 a.m., and an afternoon session, from 12:30-2:30 p.m.  The registration fee is $60. Registration forms were included in the Kindergarten registration packets distributed by all Westerville City Schools and St. Paul school.  They are also available at the Westerville Public Library, the Westerville Community Center, Westerville Fire Station 111, the Westerville Division of Police and on-line at www.westervillesafetycity.com.

Those outside of the two districts may mail their registration forms. Those children will be placed in any remaining openings beginning on April 30. The registration fee for those outside of the district is $70.
