Students at Fouse Elementary, under the direction of teacher Sherri Love, displayed their artwork throughout the school to commemorate “Arts in Education Week,” September 9-15, an event recognized by Ohio Governor John R. Kasich and Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor.

During this week, art teachers were encouraged to promote and showcase the immense role arts education has in producing engaged, successful, college and career ready students. Arts education, comprised of a rich array of disciplines including dance, music, theatre, media arts, literature, design, and visual arts, is a core academic subject and an essential element of a complete and balanced education for all students.

Through the study of art, students gain valuable insight about the world, along with knowledge and skills they can use throughout their lives.
