Second grade teacher Jennifer Gentil talks with Rupert, the honorary March Madness of Reading Master of Ceremonies.
Students at Alcott Elementary School are enjoying the first annual March Madness of Reading. Spearheaded and designed by the second grade team (Katie Reinker, Stephanie O’Harra, Jennifer Gentil, and Jason McQuown), all are all involved in reading and introducing 16 new and different picture books. Each class shares the books as children discuss and compare the author’s message, illustrations, and overall humor. Books will go head to head in discussion and debate until a vote, which will ultimately determine the March Madness Book Champion.
