First grade teacher Jim Ledford facilitated the making of the “Peace, Love & Songs” CD.

Proud parents packed the Media Center at Alcott Elementary School on Friday evening, March 3, for the 60s-themed Peace, Love & Songs CD release party.  First grade students in Jim Ledford’s class showed up in tye-died apparel and performed their hearts out, showcasing 19 educational songs, including We Are All Different, the Continent Song, Spelling Blues, Did You Vote Today?, Vowel Rap and the always-popular Snow Day

CDs, which had been professionally recorded at Blue Moon, were sold after the show with proceeds helping to underwrite the cost of studio time, mixing services, duplication, printing and packaging.  Attendees were also treated to brightly decorated, peace-symbol shaped cookies.  Ledford, billed as “our rock star teacher,” has been making CDs with his pupils for many years.
