Who is Mrs. Schone?
Background: I have been a Licensed Professional School Counselor for 20 years, all here in Westerville. Prior to coming to Westerville, I taught fourth and fifth grade in Pickerington. I am a proud mother of 3 college students. My son is in his second year at Palmer College of Chiropractic. My twin girls are juniors and play soccer at the University of Southern Indiana.
What does an elementary school counselor do?
Many students come to school daily with issues or problems that make learning difficult. The guidance program focuses on promoting student success through prevention, intervention, collaboration and advocacy. My goal is to help each of our students to grow socially, emotionally, and academically to help them become successful adults.
Services I provide for our students:
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is available to all students to discuss their personal, social, and academic needs.
Small Group Counseling
Small groups are provided as needed. Groups deal with topics such as, divorce/separation, anger, and self-esteem.
Classroom Guidance Lessons
School counselors conduct lessons on a variety of topics. Some may include, internet safety, bullying, transitions, responsibility, and acceptance.
Collaboration
I also work with parents and educators.
