Westerville Central High School senior Isabella Williams is the recipient of the National Merit $2,500 Scholarship, according to a recent announcement by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

Williams is among the $2,500 Merit Scholar designees chosen from a pool of 15,000 finalists across the country.

Scholars are selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors based on a variety of factors including academic record, scores from the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), contributions and leadership in school and community activities.

This is one of several announcements that NMSC will make over the coming months. By the conclusion of this year’s competition, more than 7,140 academic champions will have received scholarships worth about $28 million.
