Westerville Central High School senior Rohan Mawalkar is the recipient of a National Merit Battelle Scholarship, according to a recent announcement by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
Mawalkar is among the first group of winners in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. In all, about 840 distinguished high school seniors have been awarded corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards financed by about 107 corporations, company foundations and other business organizations.
With operations at more than 100 locations in 30 countries, Battelle serves industry and government in the areas of technology development, laboratory management, and technology commercialization.
NMSC will make several announcements over the coming months of recipients of National Merit Scholarships. By the conclusion of this year’s competition, more than 7,140 academic champions will have received scholarships worth about $28 million.
