WCHS junior is state champion, state runner-up in two events at OHSAA State Swimming Championship

Westerville Central High School junior Chase Swearingen is a state champion in the 200 yard Individual Medley and a state runner-up in the 100 yard Butterfly after competing at the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s State Swimming and Diving Championship Meet on Feb. 21 to 25 at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

He captured the state title with a time of 1:46.67 and competed in the 100 yard Butterfly minutes later, placing second with a time of 47.97 seconds. 

Prior to the state meet, Swearingen earned two Ohio Capital Conference titles at the OCC Ohio Division Championship Meet in January: first place in the 200 yard Individual Medley and first place in the 100 yard Butterfly.

Last season, Swearingen placed third in both the 100 yard Butterfly and the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
