Westerville high school students are invited to participate in a week-long Wellness webinar focused on meditation, self-care and positivity on May 3-8.

Westerville Central High School senior Dilara Sen organized the virtual event, which features national speakers from the Heartfulness Institute, a nonprofit organization that offers relaxation and meditation practices through thousands of trainers that serve more than a million people in more than 130 countries.

“This event is meant to help connect and provide mental wellness tools to our community members,” Sen said. “It is aimed to nurture positive mental health by empowering young innovators, creators, and leaders of tomorrow to take control of their future by learning mechanisms and resources to create a healthier future for the world.”

Sen started a mental wellness/meditation club at WCHS but couldn’t hold club meetings because of the pandemic. She proposed the virtual webinar series to support her peers and help connect them with wellness tools.

The webinar series will feature sessions on the science of meditation, the power of their thoughts, why self-care is important and how to shift your focus on the positive. Students will also learn practical tools and strategies.

Registration and specific session information will be available April 16 here.

The event is sponsored by the district’s Student Well Being and Mental Health team.
