The testing date for the PSAT, originally slated for next month, has been delayed to Jan. 26, 2021, district officials said.
The exam, which serves as a practice for the SAT and ACT and is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship program, will be administered to current high school sophomores and juniors for free.
The state requires districts and community schools to administer the state-funded ACT or SAT to all 11th-graders in the spring of each school year. To comply with the mandate, WCSD plans to administer the SAT on March 3, 2021 to all students in the Class of 2022 for free. Students can access instructional supports through Khan Academy (see link below) before and after the assessment.
The district’s Office of Assessment will automatically take care of registering students for these administrations so there is no out-of-pocket expense for families.
Accommodations:
Should a student need special testing accommodations, such arrangements cannot exceed the prescribed accommodations approved by the College Board. School counselors will be working with staff to ensure that qualifying students receive the appropriate accommodations within the approved parameters of the test.
