Luke learned how to forge by watching “YouTube.”
Luke O., senior student, conducted a live forging demonstration for his Materials Science class at Westerville Central High School on October 25. He showed his peers how the forge operates and demonstrated techniques for heating and pounding iron to shape it into a hook. Luke built his forge from scratch and has been forging as a hobby for the past three years. He taught himself how to do this from watching YouTube. Luke has a keen interest in metalworking and intends to pursue a career in the field of Materials Science when he graduates this spring. “Pretty cool,” said Principal Tom Lanier.
