January is Cervical Health Awareness Month and the purpose of “Paint the ‘Ville Teal” (PTVT) is to raise awareness of cervical cancer and to educate on prevention.  Westerville Mayor Craig Treneff issued a proclamation during the January 2 City Council meeting.  The Crawford Crew, with help from a number of Westerville Central High School students, has displayed a banner across State Street in Uptown Westerville and has tied teal colored ribbons on light posts and trees lining State Street.

Diane Crawford survived cervical cancer in 2009 thanks to early detection and the quick work of her doctors.  She founded The Crawford Crew less than three months after being diagnosed to spread the word and make a difference.
