Westerville Central High School Principal Todd Spinner recently heard from Warhawk graduate Taylor Reneau, who is making a name for herself at Harvard University.  As one of her extracurricular pursuits, she joined a theatre production called, “I, Too, Am Harvard,” a play written and produced by Harvard sophomore Kimiko Matsuda-Lawrence, based on interviews with members of Harvard’s black community.  The production features 10 students of color sharing their stories about their experiences with race on and off campus.   Reneau said it has “kind of blown up into a movement across the nation,” garnering attention from national media sources including The Boston Globe, CNN, and The New York Times.  The photo campaign went viral, reaching more than one million people within three days.

Reneau wrote, “I just wanted share this with you because if not for Westerville City Schools, I would not be doing any of this.”  She recalled giving a speech at Central two years ago during the Black History Month assembly and said this is the first thing she has done since then to reconnect with her black roots.
