On September 11, members of the Westerville Fire Department, Genoa Township Police Department, Army National Guard, Army, Columbus Police Department and the Marine Corp gathered at Westerville Central High School to recognize lives lost September 11, 2001.  All 1,690 students and staff members gathered along the top and bottom railings of Central Avenue to pay a solemn respect to the first responders and those who perished in the tragedy.

Principal Todd Spinner brought everyone to attention with the playing of the National Anthem, which was followed by a rendition of Taps.  A bagpiper and members of the Westerville Fire Department’s Honor Guard proceeded through the venue to The Champions March before pausing for a moment of silence in front of the American flag.  They continued after a moment of silence, marching out to the Pride of the Scots

After the ceremony a Columbus police official had high praise for the moving program, along with Central’s respectful student body.
