The Westerville Central High School Key Club was well represented at the Key Club District Convention held at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Columbus this past weekend, April 12-14.  Members who attended were Meg Mori, Reshma Patel, Luis Sandoval, Bianca Sandoval, and Yousef Yacoub.  During the convention, the students enjoyed a spirit rally and attended leadership workshops, banquets, and dances.  They also walked away with a slew of awards for their outstanding service.

Reshma Patel competed in an oratorical contest answering the question, “How do people know you are in Key Club?”  She won first place and presented her speech to the 300+ Ohio Key Club members at Sunday morning’s banquet. Yousef Yacoub, the Lieutenant Governor for Division 10E this past year, won several awards including the Robert F. Lucas Distinguished Lieutenant Governor Award (an international award), the Governor’s Excellence Award, as well as a $500 scholarship.  In addition, the Westerville Central Key Club also took home a couple of trophies, winning first place in the Service Project category for their Caring & Sharing project and third place for the Key Club Poster Contest.

Luis Sandoval was installed as the Lieutenant Governor for Division 10E for the upcoming year, replacing Yousef Yacoub; so once again, Westerville Central will have a student fulfilling a huge leadership role beyond the school walls and community.

Key Club Advisor Jennifer Horn said, “All of the students in attendance at the District Convention represented our school and district extremely well.  I am very proud of them!”
