Westerville City School District (WCSD) officials on August 23 announced that the average scores of students participating in the American College Testing (ACT) program again surpass the average scores of ACT participants across the state and nation. Results for 2012 are as follows:

In addition to continuing the trend of surpassing state and national averages, WCSD’s 2012 ACT scores tied five-year highs in English, science and composite. The district achieved its second-highest scores over the last five years in math and reading.
“These trends are the result of our continued efforts to align and improve our academic program,” said Superintendent Dr. Dan Good. “We hope to continue this type of progress in the future.”
The ACT is a curriculum-based achievement exam designed to measure the academic skills that are taught in schools and deemed important for success in first-year college courses. ACT scores are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities across the country. ACT scores are also used to make appropriate course placement decisions by the majority of four-year schools in the U.S. The ACT is administered in all 50 states and is taken by a majority of high school graduates in 27 states.
