Public Education Advocate Jamie Vollmer Speaks at Otterbein University
8/10/2012
Westerville Education Challenge members were responsible for bringing public education advocate Jaime Vollmer to speak at Otterbein College.
Community members gathered at Cowan Hall on the campus of Otterbein University on Wednesday evening, August 9, to hear Jamie Vollmer speak. He delivered an entertaining and thought provoking message in enthusiastic praise of public education, and a reasoned analysis of the need for systemic reform. Vollmer wrote the highly acclaimed book,
Schools Cannot Do It Alone
. He has spent the last 20 years working with school districts, education associations, foundations, and chambers of commerce across the nation to halt the erosion of public trust and build support for America’s public schools. His visit was underwritten by the Westerville Education Challenge, an organization which supports innovative educational programming throughout the Westerville City School District.
