First Lady Michelle Obama Speaks at Westerville Central High School
8/3/2012
First Lady Michelle Obama spoke at Westerville Central High School.
Approximately 2,000 enthusiastic campaign volunteers, supporters, and interested community members packed the gymnasium at Westerville Central High School on July 24 to hear First Lady Michelle Obama speak in support of her husband’s term as President of the United States. She defended Barack Obama’s record of accomplishments, saying he championed the passage of the Affordable Care Act, the appointment of two female Supreme Court justices, the American auto industry recovery, the ending of the war in Iraq, and the killing of Osama Bin Laden. She also discussed health care reform. Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman was present to kick off the spirited event.
Westerville Schools has hosted a number of political candidates in recent years. Barack Obama campaigned for president at Westerville Central High School, and Hillary Clinton did so at Westerville North. George Bush also made a campaign stop at Westerville North, before being elected President.
