One of Walnut Springs’ 20 clubs, J-POP, offers weekly exploration in Japanese culture
Walnut Springs Middle School is celebrating the year with more than 20 clubs for students to enrich, explore, and encourage each other in new and different ways. Club meetings are run by teachers and take place during study hall and lunch periods and/or after school.
The clubs are as diverse as the students’ interests are. Science Olympiad, for example, is composed of pupils in grades 6-8 who sign up for different science events and will compete against other Central Ohio schools at Regionals on March 11. J-Pop is an after school club focused on all things Japanese, including food, writing, and music. The Coding Club meets during 6th and 7th grade lunches and is dedicated to investigating the increasingly popular world of computer coding. MathCounts meets weekly in preparation for the MathCounts District Competition at Columbus State. The Intramural Soccer Club meets during study hall and lunch for each grade level, approximately once every other week. The student newspaper staff write, edit, and publish the Wolf Pack Press at their after-school meetings, while the Ski Club, Climbing Club, Fitness Club, Bowling Club, and nationally acclaimed Fishing Club enjoy the more outdoor and athletic side of things.
From Wolf Pack Council and Wolf TV to Chess Club and Paws Peers, there is something for everyone helping to make the students feel more connected and tuned into the courses, their peers, and the world around them.
