Mason Wu, an eighth-grader at Blendon Middle School, competed in the U.S. Chess Federation’s National High School (9-12) Championships last week in Washington, D.C.
He tied for third place in the U1900 session — the second-highest in the tournament — and competed in seven matches over the course of the three-day tournament. More than 1,700 students, mainly high school students, participated in the national tournament.
