Middle and high school students interested in exploring math topics can participate in free, virtual workshops with the Ohio State University Department of Mathematics each month.

On Saturday, Oct. 23, students can join the department’s Buckeye Aha! Math Moments (BAMM) outreach group to learn more about cryptography, which studies techniques to prevent others from reading private information or messages.

Cryptography has previously played a crucial role in times of war but now is critical in internet systems. Mathematics lies at the core of cryptography.

The session runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Those interested can learn more or register here.
