Three Westerville students have qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic Nationals Track Meet in Houston on Aug. 2-7.

William Baumann, an incoming freshman at Westerville North High School; Andrew Smith IV, an incoming freshman at Westerville South High School; and Shira Baumann, an incoming eighth-grader at Blendon Middle School, earned a chance to compete in the national competition following their races at the Lake Erie Regional track meet in June.

Shira Baumann qualified for the 200m hurdles, while Smith qualified as the No. 1 seed in the 100m dash and No. 2 seed in the 200m dash. William Baumann will compete as the No. 1 seed for the region in the 100m hurdles, 200m hurdles, 200m dash and the long jump. He was recently the state champion in the 110m hurdles for the Ohio High School Athletic Association state track and field meet for seventh- and eighth-graders.

All three are members of the Columbus Panthers Track Club.
