Now entering its ninth year, the Blendon Middle School Renaissance Awards and Celebration program is recognizing record numbers of students who meet high standards in academics, community service, attendance, attitude, and school spirit.  An astonishing 285 pupils qualified for the first quarter recognition program, which is more than one-third of the total student population.  Since this program requires youngsters to take personal responsibility for both meeting the standards and documenting their achievements in a timely manner, Blendon staff and parents are extremely proud of these pupils.

Each quarter, qualifying students receive both a certificate for their accomplishment and a tangible reward donated by various local businesses.  Raffle prizes were donated by local businesses and PTO parents, which included Renaissance t-shirts from Blendon Principal Kendall Harris and gift cards from Chiller Ice Rink, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cold Stone Creamery, Cucinova Pizza, Dairy Queen, Donato’s Pizza, Fazoli’s Italian Restaurant, Frisch’s Big Boy, Graeter’s Ice Cream, Marcus Theatre, Old Skool Skateboards, Rockin’ Jump, Skate Zone 71, Skyline Chili, Westerville Recreation Center, and former PTO Members Tracy Davidson and Carla Tedeschi.  The Grand Prize was a Birthday Party for 10 from Skate Zone 71.

Following the awards presentation, students spent the rest of the day enjoying skating, laser tag, and video games at Skate Zone 71.
