A total of 224 Blendon Middle School students celebrated their academic and community service achievements, which qualified them for the 2nd Quarter Renaissance Awards, by enjoying an afternoon of roller skating at Skate Zone 71 on January 23.  Students had to meet stringent goals in academic achievement, community service, attendance, attitude, and school spirit in order to qualify.

Each quarter, at an awards ceremony, qualifying students receive both a certificate for their accomplishment, and a tangible reward donated by various local businesses.  For the second quarter Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, each student received coupons from Dave & Buster’s, and Gahanna Lanes Bowling.

Blendon continued to celebrate with a variety of wonderful raffle prizes – again donated by local businesses and PTO parents – including Spiritwear from the Blendon PTO, gift cards from Cold Stone Creamery, Columbus Square Bowling Palace, Dairy Queen, Donato’s Pizza, Firehouse Subs, Little Caesar’s, Marie Scrambler’s, Old Skool Skateboards, On The Border Mexican restaurant, On The Mat Martial Arts, Rita’s Italian Ice, the Chiller Ice Rinks, the Westerville South High School Athletic Department, and parents Kelley Femia, Carla Tedeschi, Darla Cossette, and Tracy Davidson.  The grand prize was a gift certificate entitling the bearer to receive a birthday party for 10 from Skate Zone 71.

Following the awards presentation, students spent the rest of the day enjoying the amenities at Skate Zone 71, courtesy of the Blendon PTO.

This school year begins the 4th year of success for the Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, which would not be possible without the continued support of local and national businesses, Blendon parents, and the Blendon PTO.
