After studying genetic disorders in Science class, Victoria Cook’s seventh grade students at Blendon Middle School decided to raise some money for the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio.  By selling 25 cent raffle tickets during lunch periods and study halls, the pupils were able to earn $1,100 to benefit the charity.  During a pep assembly on January 23, a drawing was held for donated prizes that included gift certificates from Chipotle, Coldstone Creamery, and Dairy Queen.  The grand prize was an iPod touch, which was purchased from money donated to the cause by the Blendon PTO.  The lucky recipient was sixth grade student Ryan Collins.
